Don’t Forget to Moisturize!

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Moisturizing should already be part of your daily skin cleansing regimen, but it is especially important if you frequently receive spray tans. When skin is dry a spray tan is likely to fade faster. A good moisturizer helps keep color in place and makes your skin maintain a healthy glow.

It used to be that moisturizers made for spray tan maintenance smelled foul. (I remember a roommate who just slathered herself with the stuff and it would stink up our whole bathroom). Nowadays, spray tan moisturizers smell a whole lot better while getting the job done.

What to Buy for Your Spray Tan Business

A good friend of mine runs a successful spray tanning business in the next state over. Seeing her success has led me to investigate starting my own spray tanning business where I live. I asked her for a few tips on what I would need to start a successful business.

She told me that having quality equipment is a must. Even with a great marketing campaign, if clients don’t get a good tan then they won’t come back. She suggested investing my money in a top quality spray tan machine, automatic spray machine, spray tan tent, and plenty of color solution.

Turning a Habit into a Business

Tuesday, July 12, 2011

The entrepreneurial spirit is something I greatly admire. That’s why I was cheered to read about a young woman who turned her $100 a week spray tanning habit into a viable business. Realizing how much people like her are willing to spend to get a sun kissed look, she decided to see if she could start her own company.

The young woman bought a spray tan machine on eBay and tested out her skills on friends and family. Once she was convinced that this was a potential career rather than a hobby, she took the steps to get certified. She now is the proud owner of a mobile spray tanning business with a cadre of satisfied, regular customers. It just goes to show that if you are interested in something, chances are others are, too.

At-Home Tanning

Wednesday, July 6, 2011
posted by TanNBeautiful

For the 4th of July this year I celebrated America’s independence by attending an outdoor concert. The weather was gorgeous- 70 degrees with a slight breeze and sunny. As I was sprawled out on the grass listening to the performance, I couldn’t help but notice that I was the whitest person in the audience.

Every other person in the audience was sporting a healthy summer glow except for me. I don’t tan naturally, plus I hate the idea of baking in the sun, so I decided to go for a fake tan. On the recommendations of some friends, I bought airbrush tanning equipment and gave myself an at-home tan. For my first go it turned out pretty well, but I’ll probably go to a professional before I head out on my week-long beach vacation.

Investing in Airbrush Tanning Supplies

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Tanning is not a mere fad; the tanning industry has been doing quite well for itself, as more and more people desire a summery tan year round. When breaking into the airbrush tanning business there are many upfront costs. Primarily, you will want to invest in a quality set of airbrush tanning supplies.

Experts suggest that rather than buying each item individually, an airbrush entrepreneur should purchase airbrush tanning supply sets. It saves a little bit of money overall. Investing in high quality airbrush tanning supplies is a wise move as higher quality supplies tend to last longer than the cheaply made supplies that clog or break easily. Tanning solutions tend to last only nine months, depending on the brand, but without proper storage can be rendered useless. Be sure to read the storage instructions before use and perhaps utilize the trick of keeping tanning solutions in the refrigerator between uses.

The Wonders of Spray Tanning

Who doesn’t love the sun-kissed glow of a natural suntan? Not only is extremely relaxing to lay out in the radiant sunlight and soak up the sun’s warming love, but the rich caramel pigment you obtain after a long day in the sun is absolutely divine. Unfortunately, natural sun tanning poses too many health risks to be called upon for a regular source of a suntan. Skin cancer seems to become more and more prevalent each year, not to mention this sort of sun tanning will give you premature wrinkles.

Spray tanning is a simple solution to natural sun tanning and allows you to keep your beautiful tan with a fine mist of tanning spray. Whether at home or in a tanning studio, suiting up for your spray tan couldn’t be easier. Simply slip into your bathing suit and step into a tanning tent to prevent this mahogany luster from staining the surrounding walls or furniture. You’ll be looking sun soaked in no time.

Running a Concierge Service

Friday, January 14, 2011
posted by TanNBeautiful

I recently began offering at home tanning to my clients as a way of increasing revenue. Since the clients pay a bit more for the concierge service than they would at the salon, I make sure to keep standards high. My portable tanning kit contains many of the same products I use in the salon, as well as some goodies I sell as extras.

Whenever I leave the salon for an in-home job, I make sure I have everything on my spray tanning supplies checklist. The list includes: spray tanning tent, exam gloves, body blotters, solution mixes, spray bottles and nozzles, hair caps, and more. If I have time to sell a bit of product after the session, I encourage my clients to buy exfoliating gloves and lotions to keep their skin free of dead skin cells and well hydrated. So far the concierge service has been a boost to my business and I’m hoping to expand to more clients.

Tips for Tanning: Part 6

Today we’ll be talking to those people who want a darker tan. Do you want a darker, richer tan from your spray tan solution? If so, it’s easy! The longer the skin is exposed to the solution the darker the resulting tan will be. You don’t need to spend extra money and you won’t always have to use more solution. You can simply spray on your tanning solution like normal. Just don’t clean it off as quickly.

This leaves your skin exposed for a longer period of time and will help you achieve the deep, dark tan you’ve been searching for. The best way to accomplish this is to allow the excess moisture from the solution to dry directly on the skin, rather than removing it with a towel or wipe. And to ensure an even tan you’re going to love, you can wipe the extra moisture away from the areas you don’t want tanned as darkly. Easy!

What to Look For in a Tanning Tent

Wednesday, September 1, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

Every spray tan professional recognizes the importance of the solution and applicator, but your tanning tent is a critical part of the equation as well, particularly if you have a mobile tanning business. Here are a few of the key features to look for when making your purchase:

~Portability: Hauling around a bulky piece of equipment simply isn’t an option when you have dozens of clients to see. It’s imperative that your tanning tent be compact and lightweight while still being effective. Look for a tent that can be setup and stowed away in just a couple of seconds. The pop-up models are usually the way to go.

~Professional Appearance: It’s crucial to maintain a professional appearance when you are providing your service, so don’t pick a tent that looks like a plastic tarp and always clean it up immediately after application.

~Windows: Lighting can be a problem inside a tanning tent; be sure to get one with windows on the top.

~Easy Cleanup: The tent should preferably be made of vinyl, which will make cleaning up splattered solution quick and easy.
