Investing in a Small Business
Recently, I came into a little bit of money because of an inheritance and I thought that the best use of it would be to invest it in some sort of small business. Luckily, my cousin had been working on setting up her own business and actually was in need of some investors to get the ball rolling and purchase the merchandise that she would need for her business to be fully up and running.
The business that she was starting up was a mobile spray tan business, which I thought was a really good idea. I decided that I would invest in the company that she was trying to build and since then, things have worked out a lot in our benefit. She has a large amount of regular customers and I’ve made all of the money I invested in the business back and more.

I try to share my newly found love for spray tans with all my friends. I figured a really effective way to spread to word would be to start my own 
mobile spray tanning business. I purchased a start up spray tanning kit online from a distributor of spray tanning solution and supplies that came highly recommended by my friend (and salon owner) Tulloch. “Tulloch’s Touch Salon & Spa” has been in business for a while, and was one of the first places in my home town to offer sunless tanning. Needless to say I trusted Tulloch’s judgement, and she was sweet enough to take me under her wing.
Tulloch and I sat down and talked about the different spray tanning solution samples I had received and decided on a couple products we thought my clientele would love. She even took the time to show me the proper spray tanning procedure, and let me barrow some of her staff to practice on! I’m very lucky to have such a great friend, so willing to help me spread the word of sunless tanning in a UV world.
Spray Tan Solution Meets Casper
Warm weather is finally upon us, and I’m ready to kick this wintery white skin. With the given nickname of Casper(and rightfully so), I am easily the palest amongst my social circle. My skin is always one of two shades.. translucent white, and the other we will call 3rd degree sun burn. The latter not being such a great color on me, my friend Val (being in the business herself) suggested I try spray tanning. She could tell this idea made me nervous, and said she had the best spray tan solution for me!
My initial feeling was one of panic! I’ll take pasty skin over orange any day! Val laughed a little and again promised that she knew the best spray tan solution for my skin tone. I would not be disappointed. Reluctantly I went along with the idea. The end result was beautiful!! I finally had that beautiful bronze skin I had given up on achieving long ago. I think I’ll keep this up!
Prom Season
Prom season is kicking into full swing. The department stores are full of satin ball gowns and the local salons are offering deals on hair and nails. I’ve been nagging my brother, who is a senior in high school, to ask out his prom date. I’ve repeatedly told him that whoever he asks will need enough notice to buy a dress and schedule a salon appointment.
Of course, he rolls his eyes and says, “Yea, yea I’ll get to it.” I don’t think he understands how expensive and time intensive preparing for prom can be. I know first hand because I own a spray tan business and my schedule gets booked up for prom season months in advance. Young ladies want to make sure that they have glowing skin to accompany their glittering gowns.
Pool Opening
This time of year I like to put in extra time in the gym. My goal is to shed the last of my winter weight ahead of swim season. In my apartment complex the outdoor pool usually opens on Memorial Day weekend; however, with unseasonably warm weather expected sooner rather than later, the management has been considering opening the pool early.
I’m thrilled by the prospect. I currently pay a month to month membership at a local gym just to be able to use their lap pool. With my own complex’s pool opening soon, if I wake up early enough I can swim laps for free without being disturbed by the neighborhood kids who will likely be asleep. Just a few more pounds and a spray tan and I’ll be ready for the pool’s seasonal grand opening!

This past weekend the Seattle area experienced a bit of an early summer. Normally it stays gray and misty until late June or early July, but for two days we had zero rain, lots of sunshine, and a high of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Everyone I knew was maximizing their outdoor time because it may be several more weeks before we see that kind of pleasant weather again.
I took advantage of the gorgeous weather by testing out my new cycling gear. I took a ride out on Mercer Island, along with hundreds of other cyclists it seemed. The only downside is that even though I used sunscreen, I still have a weird looking farmer’s tan. Oh well. I guess I’ll just head over to the salon this week for a spray on tan to help even things out.
