Tan Maintenance Supplies
The last time I went into the local spray tanning salon, I had an incredibly enlightening conversation with the technician. She gave me all sorts of helpful prep tips and maintenance tips. As it was too late to take advantage of the prep tips during the appointment, I resolved to give her maintenance tips a go.
For instance, she told me that maintenance lotions are just as important as the spray tanning supplies that she uses. She recommended avoiding the shower for at least 24 hours after the appointment (much like when you get a perm). Then she recommended a tan extender and lotion that has done wonders to keep my skin moisturized.
Summer Kick-Off Party
Every year my friend Jill hosts a fabulous summer kick-off party. She has a large backyard that is just perfect for entertaining. The kids spend most of the time playing in the in-ground pool while the adults chat and eat on the patio.
It has become an unwritten tradition for the women in the neighborhood to attend in our first summer dresses of the season. There are a lot of floral prints and wide brim hats – a fun break from the usual mom jeans and t-shirts. This year I’m going to wear a dress with a particularly bold floral print, so I’ll be going to the local salon for a spray tan. They know exactly which shade of spray tanning solution to use that will complement my complexion and my dress.
Beach Body Bonanza
To kick-off the summer season, our local salon is hosting a “Beach Body Bonanza” party. All the year-round regulars have been invited to an exclusive after hours party. There will be drinks, food, and best of all, half-price spray tans.
To accommodate all the attendees, the salon owner has ordered a slew of new spray tan tents. I think this is a brilliant marketing scheme. Having all of your loyal customers traipsing about town with gorgeous tans is a lot cheaper and more effective than buying traditional advertising. Women will certainly want to know where they can get the glowing look, and thus, more clients will join the salon’s roster.
Graduation Celebration
My daughter worked extremely hard all throughout high school. She’s graduating at the top of her class and has a scholarship to our state university. I’m really proud of her accomplishments, so I’ve decided to treat her to some pre-graduation pampering.
The day before graduation I’ve arranged for her favorite cosmetologist to come over the house for the afternoon. The cosmetologist will bring along her mani-pedi equipment, as well as her spray tan applicator and spray tan tent. My daughter deserves this and so much more. I can’t wait to see her up on stage giving the commencement address.
Prom Night Reminiscing
All of the cajoling my brother to get on the ball with asking out his prom date got me reminiscing about my own proms. During high school I was lucky enough to be invited to three senior proms. I had saved up my money from my summer job and used it to buy a gorgeous dress that I wore for all three dances (I could have cared less about being seen in the same outfit multiple times; I wasn’t going to blow all my money on expensive gowns that would only be worn once).
The first prom I attended as the date of a senior friend. I got my hair and nails done, but did my own make up and neglected to get a spray tan. In all of those prom night photos I look like a well made-up ghost. Thankfully, I got it right the last two proms by having a trained technician apply spray tan solution that gave my skin just the right tint. Laughing with friends, dancing the night away…while I wouldn’t want to go back to high school, it’s fun to reminisce about the good times.
Prom Season
Prom season is kicking into full swing. The department stores are full of satin ball gowns and the local salons are offering deals on hair and nails. I’ve been nagging my brother, who is a senior in high school, to ask out his prom date. I’ve repeatedly told him that whoever he asks will need enough notice to buy a dress and schedule a salon appointment.
Of course, he rolls his eyes and says, “Yea, yea I’ll get to it.” I don’t think he understands how expensive and time intensive preparing for prom can be. I know first hand because I own a spray tan business and my schedule gets booked up for prom season months in advance. Young ladies want to make sure that they have glowing skin to accompany their glittering gowns.
