Spray Tan Preparation
You can enhance the effectiveness of sunless spray tanning by conditioning your skin for maximum results, and then taking steps to help maintain your tan.
We suggest these simple steps for Spray Tan Preparation:
Spray Tan Preparation
• If possible, exfoliate before your treatment to remove dry, flaky skin that causes uneven tanning. Dead skin cells absorb more color in some areas and prevent the application of color to the fresh skin beneath. For extremely dry skin we suggest using Sea Coral Salt Scrub a minimum of 24 hours before your session. This allows time for the oil in the scrub to be fully absorbed. The oil in the scrub blocks DHA penetration. DHA is the active ingredient, along with a cosmetic bronzer, that will produce your sunless tan.
• Before spray tanning, your skin should be clean. However, avoid high pH products like bar soaps that stop the DHA bronzing reaction. The day you tan, try an exfoliating body wash like Norvell’s Amber Sun Moisturizing Body Scrub that can be used anytime before you tan.
• Do not apply lotions or perfumes prior to tanning. Use deodorant very sparingly. You should shave the day before you tan. Remove make-up and jewelry before the tanning process to avoid blocking the spray mist.
• Wear loose fitting clothing. Tight clothes can rub off the DHA bronzer and smear the cosmetic bronzer. Ask your salon professional about clothing options.
• If you are tanning for the first time or have light colored skin, apply a pre-spray over your entire body to balance your skin’s pH level to help generate a browner, more natural color eliminating the “orange” look.
• We suggest you use a product like our Lip Invest or other barrier cream to prevent the spray from coloring your lips. If you choose to cover your eyes, we suggest WINK-EASE®, available from any tanning distributor.
Maintenance
• Immediately after your spray tanning session avoid activities that may cause you to sweat excessively to avoid streaking of the cosmetic bronzer. Use the air conditioning in your car on a hot day. Remember, you have just
been “painted” with a water soluble solution.
Important:
You must avoid water entirely for at least four hours or
you will stop the tanning action of the DHA!
• Wait at least eight hours (or more) before showering or bathing with any kind of soap or shower gel. We recommend a gentle shower gel like our Cool
Mint Sorbet. If you absolutely must shower before the eight hour period, wait at least four hours, then use plain water only to allow your tan to continue to develop. The “instant color” cosmetic bronzer will wash off just as it is designed to do.
• Chlorine is a bleach so avoid swimming in chlorine treated water for at least 24 hours after your session.
• 24 hours after tanning and daily thereafter apply Norvell’s Pro Long to help maintain your skin’s health and color while promoting even wear. These products contain a light DHA bronzing boost to extend the life of your tan. Although it will not build a tan, it will help maintain it.
• Maintain your tans’ freshness by washing daily with
one of Norvell’s shower gels.
Skin Cancer And Mobile Spray Tanning
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than one million skin cancers are diagnosed annually. Each year there are more new cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of skin cancer; about one million of the cases diagnosed annually are basal cell carcinomas.29 Basal cell carcinomas are rarely fatal, but can be highly disfiguring. Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common form of skin cancer. Mobile spray tanning has grown to be a result of skin cancer.
More than 250,000 cases are diagnosed each year, resulting in approximately 2,500 deaths. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the two major forms of non-melanoma skin cancer. Between 40 and 50 percent of Americans who live to age 65 will have either skin cancer at least once. In 2004, the total direct cost associated with the treatment for non-melanoma skin cancers was more than $1 billion. About 90 percent of non-melanoma skin cancers are associated with exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Up to 90 percent of the visible changes commonly attributed to aging are caused by the sun. Contrary to popular belief, 80 percent of a person’s lifetime sun exposure is not acquired before age 18; only about 23 percent of lifetime exposure occurs by age 18. Mobile spray tanning is a good alternative to UV tanning.
Tanning Solution Taking The World By Storm
Sunless spray tanning has taken the tanning world by storm. It has provided men and woman with a way to get and maintain a healthy-looking, even tan without being exposed to the sun’s rays or those of a tanning bed. What is most impressive is that, unlike previous sunless tanning methods, the effects of spray tanning actually look good.Spray tanning solution works by applying a special mist to the body. This mist is sprayed onto the body by HVLP or airbrush tanning equipment, which you can now find at most higher-end tanning salons and spas. The mist emitted contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA), which is a chemical that reacts with dead skin cells by cosmetically dyeing them brown. So after spray tanning, the skin takes on a golden brown color that usually looks like a natural tan.
Depending on the tanning solution used, the mist will either be water or oil based; men and woman with sensitive skin should opt for a water base. Also, some salons offer different types of mists, allowing you to choose the level of darkening. If you are very fair-skinned, keep in mind that going too dark will look fake and awkward, and could turn you orange no matter the quality of the product.
Sunless Tanning Products
Cosmetic bronzers produce immediate effects that can be easily removed with soap and water. Bronzers are available as powders, creams, and lotions. These sunless tanning products are essentially a form of make-up, since the tint only lasts until it is washed off.
Sunless Tanning Lotions and Sprays are the most effective sunless tanning products. Lotions and sprays containing dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the dead cells located in the upper layer of the skin. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a color change occurs. This change usually lasts about five to seven days from the initial application.
What is spray tanning solution
Spray Tan Solution comes in many sizes ,varieties and it would be impossible to cover all the variations here, but I will attempt to offer a few points which are worth considering when purchasing spray tan solution.
Spray tanning solutions are usually applied by an HVLP spray tanning system (High Volume Low Power) or airbrush tanning system. The spray tanning solution once applied produces a tan which generally develops over the next 5 – 8 hours. The tan wears off over the next 7 to 12 days.
Spray tanning solution contains dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is a colourless chemical (it is derived from sugar cane) that interacts with the amino acids in dead skin cells to produce a brown color change. Since these dead skin cells are constantly being shed, the color change produced by DHA usually lasts about five to twelve days but there are reports of tans lasting upto four weeks.
Best pop up spray tanning tent
pop up spray tanning tents are a must have for your mobile tanning service or to your spray tanning salon. These pop up spray tanning tents quickly and neatly pop up into shape and just as quickly fold up for travel.
Mobile tanning technicians love them for their flexibility and windows for light. Salons seeking to add on spray tanning services appreciate how quickly they can create a spray tanning space. They are equally at home in the salon or as mobile tanning salon at an airbrush tanning party.
How to start a mobile spray tanning business
As people become aware of the risks of overexposure to the sun or UV rays, many are looking for safer ways to tan. While there are plenty of tanning salons that offer the traditional tanning beds, over the past few years spray tanning, or airbrush tanning, has gained popularity. Starting a spray tanning business is extremely lucrative for an outgoing entrepreneur who is willing to learn how to operate an airbrush spray tanning machine (or hire someone who is). Start-up costs can be fairly low, particularly if you start a mobile spray tanning business look for a mobile spray tanning kit.
Determine if you will operate a mobile or fixed business. A mobile spray tanning business can save on overhead, but it means you will need to go to your customers. If you decide on a mobile business, consider setting up a booth at flea markets, fairs, beauty salons, gyms and hotels and contact local dermatology clinics.
Incorporate your business and protect yourself. If you will operate alone, you may remain a sole proprietorif you choose. Contact your tax commission and health department about any permits and licenses that you will need, such as a building permit or sales tax permit.
Find your location. If your spray tanning business will be fixed, look for high traffic locales such as shopping plazas near universities and apartments. Your tanning salon should be convenient for customers.
Purchase your equipment and supplies. For a mobile business, salon or spa, visit Artesian Tan.com for a complete mobile system that includes HVLP spray tanning system, spray tanning solution, pre and post tanning lotions and hair protection, and gloves at wholesale pricing. Sunless Tanning Roots
The first self tanning or sunless tanning product to be released to the general public was in 1960. For those old enough to remember, it wasn’t so great: it would turn your skin a strange orange hue.
Since then, there has been much advancement made on the sunless tanning front. Among the best, are lotions that contain (DHA) as the active ingredient. The tan is not a dye, stain or paint, but it causes a chemical reaction between the product and the amino acids in the dead layer on the skin surface. And, most importantly, the product is completely safe to use.
