Tan Touch-Up
Sunless tanning lotions have really come a long way. Companies have stepped up their game, coming out with vastly improved formulas as more people have shunned dangerous sun bathing. There are so many options on the market currently that you can pick up a decent sunless tanning lotion for a reasonable price.
While I am a fan of sunless tanning lotion, I prefer to get spray tans. The technician tends to do a much better job of giving me a great fake tan than I can do on my own. Still, I keep a bottle of sunless tanning lotion on hand for touch-up and to extend the life of my fake bronzed skin.
Sunless Tanning Products
Sunless tanning has been around in one form or another for years. Coppertone was the first companies to introduce sunless tanning products. That was back in 1960. Since then, there has been quit a few developments in the way sunless tanning comes in.
Some of the sunless tanning products that are out there are bronzers, sunless tanning lotions, and sprays. This is sunless tanning from the outside. There are products that you can use that are tanning from the inside. Tanning pills are an example of tanning from the inside. Whatever type of product you decide to use make sure you do research.
No More Being Mistaken for Casper
My natural skin tone is so pale that my friends often tease me that I look like Casper the friendly ghost. Their ribbing is all in good fun, but there is some truth to what they say. My skin is so white that the sun reflects off my legs whenever I wear shorts. I was growing tired of looking like a ghost, particularly in shorts and swimsuits, so I decided to give sunless tanning a try.
I know that spray tanning is a great option, but since I don’t regularly tan I didn’t want to have such a startling transformation. I decided I wanted to try a gradual sunless tanning lotion. I simply applied the lotion each night after I showered and the next morning my skin tone was slightly darker. I kept up the routine for about a week until I achieved a very natural looking tan. I would recommend tanning lotions for anyone who wants to achieve a natural looking glow gradually.
Tan and Moisturized
These days everybody wants dark, healthy looking skin. But while a tan may look good from a distance, exposure to UV radiation will dry out the skin and expedite the aging process. Traditionally, this has meant that we either have to choose rich and bronzed or smooth and supple. Thanks to sunless tanning lotion, these two qualities are no longer mutually exclusive.
Sunless tanning lotion utilizes DHA—the same chemical used in tanning solution—to naturally darken your skin. Not only will this give you color without exposure to UV rays, you’ll also be receiving the benefit of the natural moisturizers and skin firming agents in the lotion. And unlike many other sunless tanning products, the sunless tanning lotion is infused with extracts to eliminate any off-putting odors.
Tan and Moisturize at the Same Time
A couple of months ago I decided to stop hitting the tanning beds and switched to airbrush tanning instead. It definitely was the right move to make: my tan looks better, I never get burned or have to worry about long term effects, and with the new tanning tax, it’s proven to be cheap too! After years of prolonged tanning bed use, however, I’ve found that my skin is constantly dry and wrinkles are already beginning to form.
I asked my spray tan artist if she had any suggestions, and she recommended I use a sunless tanning lotion. Not only does the lotion naturally darken my coloring and enhance my spray tan, it also has moisturizers to rejuvenate my skin. The lotion even contains skin-firming agents and is infused with natural essences, eliminating the typical chemical smell of sunless tanning products.
Tips for Maintaining Your Tan
For those who invest in spray tanning on a regular basis, it makes sense to do everything in your power to preserve your tan. Not only will this save you money by limiting the number of applications you need, but it will also save you time be requiring fewer appointments. Your preparation should begin well before the spray tan artist arrives. Begin by thoroughly exfoliating your skin, which will slough off dead skin cells and prepare your body to receive the solution.
Applying a premium sunless tanning lotion is also beneficial. This will make your skin more receptive to the tanning solution and ensure that your skin remains moisturized. Tanning lotions also contain ingredients to help your body naturally produce melanin, which dictates the tone of your skin. Also remember to refrain from showering after receiving your tan, as premature bathing can rinse the solution from your skin
More Sunless Tanning Solutions
After being in the sunless tanning industry for almost a decade, I have amassed a fairly large clientele. Some of my customers get their tan every week, no matter what. Others only get a tan during stretches of sunless weather or in preparation for a big event. Many of the people who get a tan on an irregular basis ask me how they can maintain there bronze coloring when they don’t receive a tan for weeks on end.
Of course, there are the little tricks that can get a few extra days out of your spray tan, but they certainly aren’t permanent solutions. The fastest and easiest way to keep your color is with a sunless tanning lotion. Unlike a bronzer, the color from the lotion will last about a week and it will firm and nourish your skin without leaving an unpleasant odor.
Getting the Perfect Tan
For the past three years, I have been aspiring to be a fashion model. After countless shows and auditions, I finally landed my first big gig last week, and I wanted to be sure that I looked my best. Since it’s the dead of winter, my tan was leaving something to be desired. And I didn’t want to go in a tanning bed and risk getting burned.
One of my friends suggested that I try sunless tanning products. Since I had never gone this route before, I was reluctant to try something new before the shoot. She suggested that I test the solution in a discreet area, such as underneath my arm. After sampling a couple of products, I found one that blended perfectly with my skin tone. I’m happy to say that the shoot went off without a hitch, and now I have three more gigs lined up in the next month.
Wow your customers with Sunless Tanning Products
Sunless tanning products are regarded as safe alternatives to sun tanning. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) considers DHA safe when applied to your skin. DHA is a colorless sugar that interacts with the dead cells. As the sugar interacts with the dead skin cells, a color change occurs.
Sunless tanning products come in a wide variety like, sunless self tanning lotions, self tanning mousses and self tanning sprays. Other forms are spray tanning booths and hand applied methods such as mobile spray tanning companies or spray tanning services from a salon and spa.
Circumvent the Tanning Bed
The effects of tanning beds have long since been under debate, and the questions only increase with the growing number of beds emerging throughout the world: Are they safe? Do they increase the body’s production of vitamin D? Can overuse be linked to some forms of cancer?
People will disagree over some of these questions, but the bottom line is that overexposure to ultraviolet radiation – the type that tanning beds give off – is inherently harmful. They can damage skin cells and alter DNA structure, which can cause cancer and melanoma. The FDA and World Health Organization have denounced the use of tanning beds, citing cosmetic reasons as the basis for their claims. That being said, there is a safe way to maintain a healthy glow throughout the year: sunless tanning lotion. The lotion provides the same color and consistency of a tanning bed without exposing you to the detrimental radiation.
