Brushing Up On Application Technique

Tuesday, April 5, 2011
posted by TanNBeautiful

Even those of us who have been in the spray tanning industry for a while can run into issues every now and then. For example, many of the technicians I have consulted with have reported issues with pooling on their clients’ skin. This can happen for a variety of reasons.

First, too much solution may be coming out of your spray tanning gun, so adjust the PSI accordingly. Second, be sure to keep moving. Each stroke should be applied with continuous, medium speed motion. Finally, your airbrush tanning system or technique may not be to blame at all; your client may not have properly prepared for the appointment. Remind your clients that body washes, depilatories, deodorant, and other creams applied to the body will not allow the solution to penetrate the skin, causing pooling.

Effects of Sun on the Skin Part 2

Friday, December 17, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

Aside from damaging our skin ultraviolet radiation can also cause significant damage to our bodies under our skin. In addition to thinning our skin UV rays can also thin the walls of our blood vessels. When this happens we leave ourselves open to easier bruising and injury. Bruises will be darker and more prominent while cuts and tears can lead to profuse bleeding. One of the most serious consequences, however, is a condition known as telangiectasias.

Telangiectasia is a condition marked by the presence of several blood vessels visible through the surface of the skin. They are most commonly found on the face around our nose, chin and cheeks. They are possible, however, on the lower extremities and even on the arms and hands. It can be so devastating that some afflicted people will pay enormous amounts of money for an effective laser treatment to remove the visible blood vessels. This isn’t a situation you want to find yourself in so avoid excess exposure to the sun. If you must have that tan, however, try an airbrush tanning solution for a convenient and safe alternative.

Tips for Tanning: Part 4

Monday, November 8, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

This week we’ll start with the fourth installment of our tips for spray tanning series, where we’re helping you get the most out of your airbrush tanning system. Today we’ll be looking at an oft-forgotten aspect of spray tanning: how long do I wait before I can shower? Many people like to get in a shower almost immediately following a spray tan in order to get the skin feeling as fresh as possible. This is a big no-no.

If you don’t wait at least six hours before your first shower you could completely negate the effects of your spray tan. This means that all your time, money and effort would simply be washed away. And no one likes to throw money down the drain. So the next time you spray tan make sure you wait the proper amount of time before getting in the shower or you could find yourself sorely disappointed!

Get Beautiful Skin without Cancer-Causing Radiation!

Wednesday, September 22, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

Ultraviolet radiation was recently upgraded to the highest cancer risk category, so it’s no surprise that people are looking for alternatives when it comes to tanning. And an extra tanning tax which went into effect a couple of months ago hasn’t encouraged many people to make an appointment at their local tanning salon either. With all of these forces working against those of us who want to be bronzed and beautiful, now is the perfect time to look into sunless tanning.

Advanced airbrush tanning systems let you achieve a rich, even tan without any of the damaging effects of traditional methods. Unlike tanning beds, you can pick the exact shade you want your skin to be. This helps prevent the fake, orange-looking tans we are all so familiar with. If you aren’t sure which tanning solution to use, ask your spray tan professional; but remember to err on the light side your first time.

Keeping Your Summertime Tan

Wednesday, September 8, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

Now that Labor Day is behind us, shorter days and rain clouds are on the horizon. The fall season certainly has its benefits, but preserving your tan isn’t one of them. For those who don’t live in the desert, keeping bronzed skin through the autumn and winter months is virtually impossible without some form of sunless tanning.

We all know the inherent risks of tanning booths and UV radiation, so unless you want to heighten your risk of melanoma exponentially, that solution is out of the question. The safest, easiest and most affordable option is to get a spray on tan. An airbrush tanning system is a precision piece of equipment that allows the artist freedom to shade and contour your tan for a flawless appearance. Tanning solution is available in several shades to complement any skin tone.

What to Look for in an Airbrush Tanning System

Wednesday, May 26, 2010
posted by TanNBeautiful

Before purchasing your first tanning system, it is a good idea to do some research—which is probably why you found this blog in the first place. One of the most important characteristics of any airbrush tanning system is the weight. Remember: You will have to carry it with you to appointments and hold it for several minutes when applying the tan.

A high-end model will allow you to apply a tan quickly—about three minutes—while minimizing the amount of solution used. Look for a machine that requires about two ounces of solution per tan; not only will this save you money in the long run, but less solution typically equates to a more natural looking tan. Many machines on the market have several uses, but if you are a professional, be sure to get a system this is exclusively for spray tanning.
